Our client, a Cybersecurity Specialist, wanted to create the ultimate video course for the CompTIA Project+ certification. The challenge was the gap between the source material and the goal. The official exam guide is just a dry list of objectives. It is not a course. The client needed someone to take that raw syllabus and expand it into a massive, step-by-step curriculum without missing a single detail.
What We Did: We treated this like a construction project. We didn’t lay a single brick until we had the blueprints.
- Instructional Mapping: We analyzed the exam guide and expanded the simple bullet points into a detailed Course Outline. We mapped out every Module, then broke those down into Topics, and further into granular Sub-Topics.
- Organization: Once the outline was approved, we moved to Apple Numbers to build a master tracking system. This matrix tracked the status of over 1,000 assets, from “Outline” to “Scripting” to “Audio” to “Final Video.”
- The Human-in-the-Loop Scripting: We used AI (ChatGPT/Claude) to speed up the writing, but I personally acted as the Quality Gate. I vetted every single script against the original CompTIA objectives. The AI provided the speed, but I ensure the accuracy.
- Production: We used ElevenLabs for consistent audio and ScreenFlow for the visuals. We used a specific teaching technique: recording the cursor moving to point at specific text on the slides as it was spoken to keep the student focused.
The Result: We successfully turned a thin exam syllabus into a library of 1,000+ bite-sized micro-lessons. The client received a comprehensive, exam-accurate product that was ready to sell.
